Wine Tasting

Where to Taste

A map of sonoma county with a stamp on it

Our location is a dream destination for wine tasting. Healdsburg is lucky to sit at the center of three famous and distinct wine-growing regions known as AVAs (American Viticultural Areas):

  • Alexander Valley AVA: Home to 42 wineries and famous for Cabernets
  • Dry Creek Valley AVA: Home to 167 wineries and famous for Zinfandels
  • Russian River Valley AVA: Home to 70 wineries and famous for Pinot Noirs

Bonus Region - Downtown Healdsburg:

Most wine fans visiting Wildhaven spend an additional day tasting wine in downtown Healdsburg, home to 21 tasting rooms clustered nicely around the charming plaza. Ditch the car and stretch your legs while you sip.

  • Family-Friendly: The Coppola Family Winery (8 mins away) is the clear winner here, with its pool, film museum (yes, that Coppola), and even a restaurant with kids menu. Also check out picnic-friendly Stuhlmuller Vineyards, just 2 miles away, down a quiet country road (great for bikes).
  • Valley Views: Check out the unbeatable views of Dry Creek Valley from the patios at Trattore and Sbragia.
  • Tasty Food Pairings: We’re a fan of Comstock Wines in the Dry Creek Valley with their amazing mezze platter and wood-fired pairings, not to mention their beautiful back patio.
  • Beautiful Grounds: Ferrari-Carano Winery is probably the gold standard for gorgeous grounds between their Tuscan-style villa and their colorful gardens with meandering paths, foot bridges, fish pond, and stream.
  • Wine Caves: These add a fun, educational dimension to your tastings, and we like the impressive ones at Alexander Valley Vineyards and Bella Winery.
  • Healdsburg Plaza: Lace up your walking shoes and get ready for some fun people-watching. We’d recommend stopping by Williamson and Portalupi (unique California-Italian styles wines), for starters.
  • Fun With Bubbles: We’d recommend visiting the Korbel Winery in the Russian River Valley to experience a festive and detailed bubbly tasting. Plus, you get a very scenic drive down Eastside road through gorgeous vineyards
  • Mendocino County: Looking to broaden your wine-tasting palette beyond Sonoma County? We’d recommend driving just 1 hour north to discover amazing wines and 30 tasting rooms in the Anderson Valley.
